Portia has lived and loved in Portland for the past 20 years. A Seattle native who found her way to Portland after graduating from Bates College, Portia knew she had found her place with its amazing people, gorgeous hikes, rugged islands, beaches, lovely architecture, amazing food, art, and coffee scene.
Since arriving in Portland she has had the privilege of growing up and starting a family (two awesome boys, Lincoln and Haviland, and now Zinnia the resident squirrel patrol poodle) as the city has grown up and changed over the past twenty years.
She and her husband, Josh, have owned and renovated several historic homes in the city, each with its own unique history, stories, and character. Helping bring new life to old homes has been a passion since buying their 1827 cape on the peninsula in 1999.
Her current house (1869) and barn in Portland (@portiasbarn) is filled with curated vintage treasures. Five years ago, Portia started hosting monthly pop-ups of vintage homeware out of her barn (@portiasbarn) and has grown a dedicated following of locals and designers whom she helps source antique and vintage furnishings that she calls “the jewelry for your home.”
For Portia, making and maintaining connections is what it is all about. From finding cool antique rugs, to sharing the name of a talented carpenter, electrician or plasterer, helping to find and fill a fabulous house or making selling and passing along a special house as seamless and even fun as possible is what fills her cup.
“Combining my passion for architecture, restoration and preservation with my love for discovering vintage treasures and exploring our amazing state is a dream come true. I pinch myself every day that I get to help friends, neighbors, and new clients buy and sell houses that become homes and furnish them with pieces that bring them joy!”
As a former board member and current Advisory Trustee for Greater Portland Landmarks, Portia believes wholeheartedly in the mission to “ensure that Greater Portland preserves its sense of place for all and builds vibrant, sustainable neighborhoods and communities for the future.”
